Heart of the Valley

Founded as a station on the St. Louis Brownsville and Mexico Railroad in 1906; named for Donna Hooks, daughter of a townsite promoter. Today a retail center for ranching and intensive agriculture of the Rio Grande Valley; hosts abundant winter visitors.

Donna Museum- Visit the Donna Hooks Fletcher Museum historically located in "The Heart of the Valley".  Travel back in time to Donna's founding.  Housed at the historic Donna News Building, located at 129 South 8th Street, west of the town square. Open Wednesday-Friday 10:00 am-1:--PM and Saturday 10:00 am-3:00 PM.
Donna Library - Provides books and reference service to everyone with a library card. Internet services provided both through dial in connections and at the library. The Donna Public Library the Library in the Heart of the Valley providing you services since 1911. Open Mon & Fri 8:00 am to 5:00 PM-
